Environmental Mitigation Plans: Empire Wind

Empire Wind from Equinor Wind US Holdings, Inc., includes two offshore wind projects planned for the New York Bight south of Long Island. Empire Wind 1 (816 MW) was awarded as part of the 2018 solicitation, and Empire Wind 2 (1,260 MW) was awarded as part of the 2020 solicitation. Empire Wind 1 and NYSERDA successfully renegotiated their contract in the 2023 solicitation, which was finalized in May of 2024. In December 2023, NYSERDA and Empire Wind 2 jointly terminated their contract agreement. Prior to termination, developers for Empire Wind 2 consulted with the E-TWG to develop an EMP for the project.
